To avoid shutting down applications by accidentally tapping the home button, a simple trick is to press and hold down the home button for a few seconds after you load the application you don't want to accidentally close. Your iPad will now forget about closing down that application.

If you want to protect your "Top Secret" data from being discovered by spies, you can set your security options to Erase All Data after 10 failed passcode attempts. Simply go into your Security Settings then slide the button next to Erase All Data to ON.
